Career & Experience
As a student, Fong Ling stood out among her peers as an artist in the making. Hence, many were surprised when she became a lawyer. While these days she prefers to do art more as a hobby, her penchant for thinking beyond the boundaries of convention is still very much alive.
Upon entering GTRZ, she surprised yet again when she opted for the conveyancing and not the litigation department, despite her decisive and outspoken nature. Regardless, the positive and cheerful Fong Ling is happy to share her professional knowledge to help others in practical ways.
Her job as a conveyancing lawyer drives her to find creative solutions for clients – understanding their needs and wants, demystifying relevant terms and procedures for them in everyday language, and drafting straightforward corporate agreements, such as shareholders’ agreements and share sale agreements. With the ability to read, write and speak Mandarin, she is also capable of helping those from Chinese and Mandarin-speaking backgrounds.
Clients call her their “family lawyer”, as she manages not just their conveyancing and property matters, but all matters succession-related like writing wills, validating wills, and planning assets. She is also familiar with investment and banking for individuals, retailers, SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) and corporates, having worked with more than ten banks and finance companies.
