Professional negligence involves a breach of care by a professional engaged by a company or an individual for intended professional services. It is easier to separate the common types of professional negligence affecting companies and individuals. For companies, professional conduct of their accountants or auditors could be an issue. For individuals, the most common professional negligence encountered would be medical negligence or negligence by lawyers.
Other professions where negligence may occur, would be those of engineers, valuers and surveyors.
